Babylon Search - Guide Removal

What Is Babylon Search?

Babylon Search (isearch.babylon.com) is an online translation program originally that comes with a wide variety of language pairs and tremendous dictionaries, including built-in dictionaries, community-created dictionaries, text-to-speech agent to users and so on.

However, this legal program has been used by cyber crimes for illegal purpose. Users have been complaining about annoying redirections and hijacking behaviors of Babylon. It offers a web search engine which is being promoted by many other free softwares that you can download from the Internet. Once installed, it will hijack your webpage, redirect your homepage, replace your default search engine. Moreover, it can display numerous ads and malicious links in your search result and record your search queries for cyber crime.



How Can Babylon Search Enter My Computer?

Babylon Search got on your computer after you have installed another free software or add-on that had bundled into their installer this browser hijacker. But when you uninstall those programs you installed before, the Babylon Search cannot be removed with those programs, your website defaults will not back to normal too. Therefore, you have to remove it manually.



Manual removal guide of Babylon Search:

Step 1: Show the hidden files and folders.

Click “Start” and choose “Control Panel”, double-click the “Folder Options” and choose “View” tab, check "Show hidden files and folders".


Step 2: Delete all the associated files in your computer.



Step 3: Delete related registry entries

Click Start and choose Run, type regedit into the search bar, click OK to open the Registry Editor, then delete all those registry entries related to Babylon Search as follow:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AboutURLs
